Resetting your password

If you forget your 23andMe account password, you can reset it by following the directions below: 

  1. Click the "Forgot your password?" link on the Sign In page, or navigate directly to the password recovery page.
  2. On the recovery page, enter your account email address and complete the security check, then click the Send Password Reset button. A password reset email will be sent to the address you enter. Make sure that you enter the email address associated with your 23andMe account.
  3. Look for an email titled "23andMe Password Reset Request" sent from the address donotreply@23andme.com and follow the instructions included in this message.

Note: You will have to provide the answer to your security question before setting a new password for your account.

On this page you will need to enter your account email address and the answer to your secret question. The secret question is the one you selected when you first created your account.

You can then enter a new password; the password needs to be a minimum of 6 characters.

If you do not remember the answer to your security question, you will need to submit a request to our Customer Care Team who can assist with a password reset. Please note that this request needs to be sent from the email address associated with the account in question or we will not be able to perform the reset.
